I haven't been able to participate in a Fix it Friday at I Heart Faces in a while, but thanks to a snow storm my calendar has cleared and I've spent some much needed time relaxing with my photo editing software! Today's fix it Friday is a simple photo that at first I didn't think I would be able to do much too, but it turns out once the creative juices began flowing I developed a couple different edits of this photo.
Here is the original:
What a cute little girl, seemingly unaware that her photo was snapped. I love photos like these, because they could be taken by anyone at a backyard BBQ. At first glance one might not even keep this photo, but a little touching up can turn it into a professional grade keeper.
First I touched up the original to create one photo to use as the base for all my other edits:
How I edited this:
- Cropped the photo to eliminate dead space
- Adjusted the curves
- Increased the brightness/contrast
- 'Burned' parts of the hair, eye lashes, and lips
- Then the fun began with several more edits applied to this photo!
Soft Selective Color
Contrasting Black and White
Faded Black and White with Texture
Layers of Light Textures.
Which is your favorite?!
I honestly think I love the whispy faded black and white photo the most, but the contrasting black and white or the layers of light textures photo are close seconds. It never ceases to amaze me how different one photo can be made to look!

ReplyDeleteGreat job with all your edits. I love how the in the first one you really made the photo come to life by brightening it up. I also really like the fourth one. Glad you had a little time sitting at home during a snow storm.
ReplyDeleteI really like the last edit...great dream like quality without losing the contrast.
ReplyDeleteAnd the texture looks great with it as well.
