Photo of the Day - Twenty Nine

Here is one of the four lightning photos I took the other night.  Yes, I finally successfully photographed the electrical phenomenon in the summer skies!  What is so special about that?  Well, I had NO tripod.  These storms caught me totally by surprised and found me unprepared.  Without a tripod I had to find a hard solid surface and hold down the shutter by hand.  Do you have any idea how hard that is to do and not move the camera the tiniest bit?  I'm amazed any photos came out successfully and vow to not be caught off guard again.

  3. Awesome!!
When I finally got a reasonable picture of a Monarch at the Botanical Garden last week one of my first thoughts uploading it was that I hope you get a pic of lightening now.
I've always wondered how photographing lightening works.

  4. The image is amazing!!! I can hardly wait until I am living in Colorado...so I can enjoy afternoon and early evening electrical storms. I try to make sure I have a tripod in my trunk at all times...you might get an inexpensive one and just leave it in the car so you have it.
