Before and After

The other day I decided to go for a leisurely walk around town with my camera.  I looked at the buildings differently, through my lens, and found myself taking photos of things that I normally wouldn't give a second glance.  The one below is my favorite from the walk.

This is the Chevy Garage downtown known as Brighton garage.
It has been in operation since at least the 1950s.

I did do some post processing on the photo to give it an "antiqued" look.  Basically I warmed it up, cropped the edges, created a slight blur and vignette, and upped the contrast.  The end result is something I'd actually consider getting a print of for my dad to post in his garage where he works on his tractor and classic cars.

This is the "straight out of the camera" photo.  I don't always like to post these, but sometimes seeing where you began and how you ended up puts your photos in perspective.  I always remind myself...you can't create a good photo by post-processing.  You create good photos with your camera and post-processing only makes good photos better.

What do you think?  Is it good post-processing or too much touch-up?

  1. I definitely don't think its too much touch-up, but I do know what you are talking about with some photographs you see now a days.
